Museum Island at Christians Brygge (War Museum, Theatre Museum, Thorvaldsen Museum)
At Christians Brygge, not far from the centre of Copenhagen and Nyhavn, you will find a unique island with countless historic buildings and museums. Visit the War Museum, Theatre Museum or Thorvaldsen Museum, or take a walk along the canal and enjoy the new and older architectural gems.
Christian IV's Brewhouse
Christian IV's Brewhouse is one of Copenhagen’s oldest buildings. The large building enjoys a unique location in the historic surroundings of Frederiksholm Canal and close to Copenhagen Harbour. The future plan is for the building to be opened to the public and furnished with exhibitions of stone and plaster figures from the state’s castles – as well as opening it for events.
The Royal Library’s newest building, The Black Diamond, was built on Slotsholmen in 1999. The building is a cultural centre where lectures, debates, music and theatre events are held – and there is an international author scene. The entire building and surroundings are decorated with new and older art, and the cultural centre holds many exhibitions and events.
